Casting off: done!
Over the last few weeks, the SP80 team has connected a small kite to its boat and the pilots were able to make their very first run.

The team had to face a major challenge: figuring out the best scalable way to launch a kite from the sea, anticipating the need to launch larger kites for the record using the same procedure.

It took time to validate a safe launch procedure for the pilots, team and boat, and then dare to cast off.

Discover these steps in video, from the first kite tests using chase boats to the very first launch with our record boat.

Next steps

With this first success, the team is planning to go faster from spring 2024 with a first custom-made 25m2 kite.

The world record is scheduled for fall 2024 in Leucate, South of France.
