New Zealand Food Safety is advising the public not to collect or consume shellfish gathered from the Northland West Coast due to a high paralytic shellfish toxin risk. The warning extends from Tauroa Point to Glinks Gully and includes the Herekino, Whangape and Hokianga Harbours.
The warning for the Hawke’s Bay region has been reduced following further testing in the region. The East Cape warning now runs from Cape Runaway down to Wairoa River mouth.
Other warnings remain in place for Kawhia, Blackpool and Surfdale Beaches on Waiheke Island, and the inner Queen Charlotte Sound in Marlborough Sounds.
