The first Amels 80 arrives for outfitting

by Damen Yachting team 28 Nov 2023 09:26 GMT

Today, all eyes were on the first Amels 80 superyacht as she arrived in the Netherlands ready for outfitting. Damen Yachting's main shipyard in Vlissingen will be her home until she is completed in 2025.

Measuring 80 metres (261 feet) in length, this Amels 80 is the first of the most recent designs to evolve from the Amels Limited Editions range. In keeping with the Amels DNA, designer Espen diameterino created a holistic and modern exterior design.

"This yacht is at the forefront of shipbuilding," says Damen Yachting's Project Manager, Romke van der Linde. "We are a 100+ year old shipyard that continues to innovate and the hybrid Amels 80 is a true testament to this. The feedback from the several Amels 60 yachts that already feature our hybrid system has been more than positive."

The Owner has utilised the option to create an entirely custom interior design and opted for the Dutch design studio Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design. "A key selling point of our Amels Limited Editions superyachts is the ability to create a fully personalised interior design. And judging by the interior renderings, this is set to be a spectacular rendition of the Amels 80 that we are all excited to see delivered in 2025," says Jan van Hogerwou, Commercial Executive North America at Damen Yachting.

Having chosen a unique colour palette and a selection of natural materials for the interior, the Owner will soon be able to enjoy a dedicated Owner's Deck and an impressive 200-square-metre (2,153 sq ft) Sun Deck. At 2,175 GT, there is also space for a multitude of toys, a Waterside Beach Club which opens on three sides, a Wellness and Spa area, and a helicopter landing area.

The first Amels 80 hull and superstructure was launched from her build facility in Galati, Romania, on 27th September 2023 and was towed to the Netherlands for completion. Since selling the yacht one year ago, the team at Burgess has remained involved in the build process as the Owner's Representative.

"The next milestone of this impressive yacht is upon us with her arrival in Vlissingen. With much of the design development of the yacht being personally overseen by the owners, we believe this will be one of the standout yachts entering into operation in 2025. This is a great testament to the project team who are working collaboratively together to complete a yacht that pushes the boundaries of the Limited Editions series to the maximum. We are extremely proud to have been part of this unique project and look forward to her delivery in 2025." says Sean Bianchi, Partner - Head of New Construction, Naval Architect at Burgess.

Damen Yachting continues to evolve its products and, for many years, has perfected the Limited Editions superyachts and their various sizes and designs. With the classic Limited Editions designs still a firm favourite of many, the range increased in 2019 with the Amels 60 and now the largest to date, the Amels 80.
