Icom has unveiled a major innovation in radio communication with the world's first Marine VHF/LTE Hybrid Radio.... the IP-M60.

This revolutionary device which was officially introduced at METS 2023 (Marine Equipment Trade Show) seamlessly combines the capabilities of an LTE radio with the reliability of a Marine VHF radio in a single handheld device. This all-in-one solution ensures that mariners can stay connected regardless of the environment they find themselves in.

Key features of the IP-M60 Marine VHF/LTE hybrid radio...

LTE Network Connectivity: The inclusion of LTE network connectivity provides long range comms for a handheld and allows constant contact with locations away from the vessel. This feature enables mariners to communicate efficiently even when they are inland far from the shore. (Coverage area depends on network provider).

Independent PTT Buttons: The Hybrid Radio makes it effortless to answer calls with dedicated Push-to-Talk (PTT) buttons for both Marine VHF and LTE, ensuring that communication is swift and seamless.

Simultaneous Reception and Transmission: With this innovative device, mariners can simultaneously receive and transmit on both the Marine VHF and LTE networks enhancing communication efficiency.

Bridge Mode Function: The Hybrid Radio introduces a Bridge function that relays received Marine VHF audio to the LTE radio group while transferring LTE radio conversations to the Marine VHF group. This bridge ensures that critical information reaches the right personnel in real-time, improving safety and coordination.

Wireless Operation with Bluetooth: Built-in Bluetooth technology allows wireless operation making it easier for mariners to use optional headsets and other compatible accessories further enhancing their experience and convenience.

IP67 Waterproof and Dust-Tight Protection: Icom's Hybrid Radio is built to withstand the harsh marine environment. With an IP67 rating it can withstand submersion in water up to 1 meter deep for 30 minutes ensuring durability and reliability.

Simultaneous TalkListen Function: In LTE mode the Hybrid Radio boasts the Simultaneous TalkListen function for full-duplex communication making it easier for mariners to communicate efficiently during critical operations.

Icom's groundbreaking Marine VHF/LTE Hybrid Radio redefines maritime communication providing a vital lifeline for those at sea and opening up new possibilities for safety and efficiency in the maritime industry. The IP-M60 would be a great solution for shipping companies, port operations, Coastguard, rescue organisations, yacht racing organisers, super yacht owners or any commercial marine operation.

It is planned that units will be available around Spring 2024. To pre-order, contact your local authorised Icom marine dealer. Alternatively, call our sales team on 01227 741741 or email .
