RORC Members and their guests were invited to join Round the World Sailors Alexia Barrier and Dee Caffari for the latest RORC Talk about 'The Famous Project' at the London Clubhouse, on the 10th of October.

The Famous Project's ultimate ambition is to break the non-stop unassisted round the world record on the Maxi-Trimaran IDEC-Sport, and in the process set a benchmark time for a female team. No other all-female team has attempted the Jules Verne Challenge in the last 25 years.

In 1998, Tracy Edwards put together the first all-female crew in an attempt to be the first all-female crew to win the Jules Verne Trophy. Sponsored by Royal & SunAlliance, the women had broken five world records and were well on the way to beating the Jules Verne, when their 92ft catamaran was dismasted 2000 miles off the coast of Chile.

The Famous Project MOD70 Limosa is racing in the Rolex Middle Sea Race this month, followed by the RORC Transatlantic Race in January 2024 ,and the RORC Caribbean 600 in February 2024.

In late Spring of 2024, The Famous Project will be competing in RORC Races with the Maxi-Trimaran IDEC Sport and attempting world records in European waters. The 31.5m trimaran, when skippered by Francis Joyon, set the current Jules Verne Record in 2017 of 40 days 23 hrs 30 mins 30 secs. It has been
