The international conference dedicated to the sport of sailing announces a new concept and format. From 2024 onwards, the Yacht Racing Forum will be held in parallel with the world's largest maritime industry trade fair: METSTRADE Amsterdam.

After thirteen successful editions, the Yacht Racing Forum announced a new format and concept for the future. "This is great news for the Yacht Racing Forum, which will welcome a wider audience and strengthen its role as the leading annual conference dedicated to the sport of sailing," said Bernard Schopfer, the organiser of the event. "This new concept will increase participation while significantly reducing the event's carbon footprint."

The Singapore Yachting Festival (SYF) is set to return 25-28 April 2024 alongside the two-day Southeast Asia Yachting Conference 23-24 April 2024, both being held at ONE degrees15 Marina Sentosa Cove. The annual event is expected to feature the latest boat models on display from the world's best-known yachting brands - especially superyachts - following the addition of new berths and superyacht moorings at ONE degrees15 Marina Sentosa Cove.

The second edition of SYF will be organised by ONE15 Events Management, a subsidiary of SUTL Enterprise, in collaboration with SG Marine Guide helmed by Wade Pearce, with the aim of bringing together more boating enthusiasts, lifestyle seekers, mid-range buyers and high net worth visitors - especially the young and affluent - who are considering a yachting lifestyle.

From 11-14 January 2024 the focus of the marine leisure world in the Asia-Pacific region will be on the second annual Thailand International Boat Show: A Luxury Lifestyle Event. With more than 80% of the in-water space already booked and a new onshore layout, the event will showcase Thailand and the best of boating and luxury lifestyle across Asia to the world.

Held at Royal Phuket Marina and organised by JAND Events, the show wraps up an almost two-month festival of marine events that showcase Thailand's world-class charter (Thailand Charter Week, 17 - 19 November 2023), racing (Phuket King's Cup Regatta, 2 - 9 December 2023), superyachts (Kata Rocks Superyacht Rendezvous, December 2023) and boating and luxury lifestyle (Thailand International Boat Show, 11 - 14 January 2024) credentials to the world.

At the recently-concluded Sydney International Boat Show, Beneteau made a lasting impression to attendees with a remarkable showcase of 16 models, covering a diverse range of sailboats and motorboats. During the four-day event held at Darling Harbor, they had the pleasure of connecting with enthusiastic clients, both new and existing, and introduced the public to the latest and most popular models from the Beneteau lineup. The two Beneteau stands were expertly prepared by our trusted dealers in Australia, Chapman Marine and Flagstaff Marine, and great thanks for their dedication to ensure a visually stunning and engaging experience for all who visited.

Rivergate Marina & Shipyard sponsored the third annual Australia-Fiji Rendezvous held at Port Denarau, Fiji, 25 August, involving Australian industry proponents and organised by AIMEX-Superyacht Australia. Andrew Cannon, General Manager, Sarah Toxward, Dock Master and Angus Paterson, Project Manager from Rivergate joined the 21-strong Australian contingent from all parts of the industry.

"It was great to see our Fiji colleagues and friends being so invested in the Australia Rendezvous event demonstrating the level of collaboration throughout the region," said Andrew Cannon. "The Fijian hospitality was incredible and it's impressive how open and inclusive our hosts are in welcoming us all to promote the Pacific together."

The Marina Industries Association (MIA) is proud to bring you a one-hour webinar, diving into the underwater world of Marinas & Electrolysis hosted by Jessica Gatt of Logix Group, on Thursday 21 September at 2pm AEST. And in Europe, the X-Yachts Xc47, has been nominated for European Yacht of the Year 2024! A 12-person jury voted for the Xc47 to be among the finalists for the European Yacht of the Year. X-Yachts Australian & New Zealand Managing Director, Kevin Wallis said the Award is the most important, influential and most widely communicated boatbuilding prize worldwide. It is often referred to as the "Oscar" of yachting. In the first five months of each year all members of the 12-strong jury pre-select the most promising new sailing yachts.

The jury uploaded specifications, sailplans and renderings as well as comments to an intranet. This database is the common source of information for the nomination process that took place in June. Once the top candidates in each category are chosen the yards are informed and the sea trials are organized. They usually take place before or after one of the major in-water boat shows during fall, ideally one in Northern and one in Southern Europe to keep travelling and boat deliveries to a minimum. Each of the two sea trials lasts for up to five days, with regular debriefings every evening when the editors get back from the boats.

To all Boating Industry Association of Victoria members: if you are planning to nominate an apprentice or an employer of the year please do so as soon as possible. Nominations close at the end of September so please help celebrate the efforts of our future industry leaders!
