by Prensa Sailing Communication 17 Aug 2023 15:50 BST 7-13 October 2023

The RCN of Torrevieja will host this international event between the 7th to 13th October. This past Monday, August 14th, officially closed the registration deadline and will be in the city of Torrevieja the best of international class.

With just two months left for the official start of the Europa OP 2023 International One Metre Class European Championship, from 7th to 13th October, the Real Club Náutico de Torrevieja and the One Metre Class Association (IOMICA) officially closed the registration period this Monday. It did so with a high participation, 80 sailors representing 14 countries: Germany, Argentina, Austria, Chile, Croatia, Denmark, France, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal and Spain.

In the official list will be in the city of Torrevieja the best sailors in the class. Much level, which translates into a show in capital letters, guaranteed as evidenced a few months ago in the VI Torrevieja International Meeting IOM, a test in which Torrevieja and his Club passed all the tests with high marks.

There are many podium options at the conclusion of the races on Friday October 13th, although all eyes are going to focus, and focus on six sailors who are the big favorites.

The Croatian Zvonko Jelacic is the strongest rival and the one that everyone wants to beat and that is what the 79 sailors will work on, highlighting among them the French Olivier Cohen (current world champion) and Alexis Carré, the Italian Pierluigi Puthod and the British Rob Walsh, without forgetting the great Spanish asset such as Guillermo Beltri, from the RCN of Torrevieja, who finished sixth in the last world championship in Croatia.

Spain, being the host country, is the one with the largest participation, with 12 sailors. Both Croatia and France arrive at the regatta in Torrevieja with 11 sailors each. Great Britain and Italy will be represented by 9, while Norway will be represented by 4, Germany, Portugal and Poland with 3, Austria with 2 and Chile, Argentina, Denmark and Hungary with 1.
