There is a record entry of 17 teams entered for this year's Etchells Scottish Championship. Every active boat on the Clyde will be there and helmed by their owners. James Watt Dock Marina have once again agreed to sponsor the Etchells Scottish Championship 2023, which will be hosted by Royal Gourock Yacht Club over the weekend of the 5th and 6th August 2023.

A total of over 50 crew members will compete in up to seven races over the two days. The racing will take place in the area of water between Gourock Pier and the Cloch Lighthouse. There will be very close competition on the water as all the boats conform to a 'One-design' class, which mean they are matched to each other. It is then down to the sailing skills of the helm and the crew to see who can be first around the course.

Graeme Galbraith, James Watt Dock Marina Manager, said that 'he is delighted to once again be able to support such an active class of yacht on the Clyde and is really looking forward to the Championship.' Graeme will also compete in the event on a boat called Gelert.

Reigning Scottish Champion Geoffrey Howison added 'the support from James Watt Dock Marina is greatly appreciated and will help ensure the event will be a great success.' Colin MacDonald, Royal Gourock Yacht Club Watersports Secretary also commentated 'it is great to have the Clyde Etchells fleet based at Royal Gourock Yacht Club and to host the James Watt Dock Etchells Scottish Championship. We look forward to welcoming all the competitors, volunteers and supporters.'
