Warlock dominates Red Grant Regatta J/105s

by J-Boats 16 Jul 2023 00:56 BST

Damian Emery in his newly acquired J/105 WARLOCK (#139) managed to top the sixteen-boat J/105 fleet in the 77th running of Raritan YC's Red Grant Regatta without winning a single race, edging out Bruce Stone and Nicole Breault in their newly acquired J/105 ARBITRADE (#98).

They were followed closely by Paul Beaudin in J/105 LOULOU (#334). Participating teams used this as a training session for the upcoming J/105 North Americans scheduled for early October at American YC in Rye, NY.

Damian and his team of Pam Morris, Helena Peterson, Kevin Dakan, Tom Pluchino, and George Ryan were quite consistent. According to Pam: "The conditions were great, with the wind in high single digits to mid-teens, and the competition was close. We are still getting a handle on the rig tune and boat speed but all in all, we like the way Warlock performs. Always more tweaking to be done. Some of the finishes were so close, it was hard to know the order of the boats. The PRO said she loved watching the 105's race and especially the close finishes."
