Royal Hospital School win British Schools Dinghy Racing Association Finals

Royal Hospital School (RHS) in Holbrook, Ipswich, is celebrating its recent success in The British Schools Dinghy Racing Association Finals in Norfolk held from the 26-27th June, following on from a victorious year of individual and team sailing for the school.

Taking place at Norfolk Broads Yacht Club, the competition was high, with over 40 teams from 12 different schools showcasing their sailing skills. In the final race, RHS went up against Magdalen College school from Oxford, with RHS taking the win.

Ed Sibson, Director of Sailing at Royal Hospital School, expressed his elation with the team's remarkable success, saying: "We're absolutely thrilled with the result achieved by our team, especially considering that, for some of them, this was their final competition representing RHS. Their dedication to sailing throughout their time at the school, their hard work in training, and their willingness to invest significant amounts of their free time in team improvement have truly paid off."

Thommie Grit, a Year 13 pupil at RHS who competed in the final also commented on the win, saying: "It was very satisfying to win the final race and secure the championship after a long two days of competition and especially in my final school sailing event. The whole team worked great together through the whole event."
