The 10th edition of the Principality of Monaco Trophy is ready to start

A fleet of magnificent vintage boats is preparing to compete on the stage of the most famous lagoon in the world for the tenth edition of the Principality of Monaco Trophy Vintage Sails in the Lagoon Coppa BNL BNP Paribas Wealth Management, event promoted by Anna Licia Balzan, Honorary Consul of the Principality of Monaco in Venice.

The fleet will be moored inside the Arsenale from 23 to 26 June. Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 the start of the two regattas to be held in the waters in front of the Venice Lido. Sunday morning around 11, before the second race, the boats will parade for the traditional sailing in the San Marco Basin visible to the public along the banks.

Under the sporting direction of Mirko Sguario, founder of the Venice Yacht Club and promoter of famous regattas of the Serenissima such as the Venice Hospitality Challenge, the event will take place in collaboration with the PortodiMare Sailing Club and with the patronage of A.I.V.E. Associazione Italiana Vele d'Epoca founded in 1982 and, in addition to the category prizes, the Overall winner will be awarded. The prizes for the winners are works kindly offered by the historic Murano glassworks Barovier & Toso, while the results of the individual regattas will compete for the award of the A.I.V.E. Cup. of the Adriatic 2023.

An important birthday is added to the tenth anniversary of the Trophy: Naïf, Ivan Gardini's sloop from 1973, this year celebrates half a century since its launch. The boat, built by the Carlini shipyard in Rimini to a design by the American Dick Carter, has been sailing in the Adriatic for some seasons after winning the prestigious PCYC in the 'Classic' category in the Tyrrhenian Sea in 2012. Sagittarius of 1972 and Sorella of 1858 of the Sport Velico of the Navy are expected to return to the race, after a series of important restoration works carried out by the Romagna shipyard De Cesari.

Sorella boasts the distinction of being the oldest sailing vessel in the Navy and the only gaff cutter in the entire Italian military fleet. The 16-metre Germana of 1984 and Camilla of 1980 will arrive to represent the Venturieri di Chioggia, the Association for the diffusion of the sailing navy which celebrates 35 years of its foundation. in the Adriatic, they are Nembo II of 1964 by the president of the Adriaco Yacht Club of Trieste Nicolò De Manzini and Serenity of 1936 by Roberto Dal Tio. Nembo II presents itself as reigning champion of the Adriatic AIVE Cup in the 'Classic' group, of which the Principality of Monaco Trophy in Venice represents the second stage of the 2023 circuit.

The tenth edition of the Trophy sees the participation of American Express for the first time and the confirmation of the support of important brands such as Diadora, Villa Sandi, Nature's, Vhernier, Canella.
