With wonderful sunny conditions, 7 boats attended, with sailors from Cornwall, Lyme Regis and more locally on the Exe - in all, 5 separate clubs were represented. The day was lead by Feva Class coach James Dowrick. Three boats came from Exe Sailing Club sailing up river on the tide to the venue, accompanied by an Exe SC RIB.
It was a fantastic sunny day, one of the best this year so far. The morning dawned with light (buy sail-able) winds; and after the hot pasta and sauce lunch for all sailors in the middle of the day, the sea breeze filled in for some champagne sailing conditions.
Many of the sailors are starting to move up into the Feva, and this was an fantastic day's training to help with that process. With excellent feedback from sailors and parents, several of the sailors now have their sights set on training through the winter in the Feva.
As a way of encouraging new entrants into the class, SYC covered the costs of temporary Class Association membership for those who were not Feva Class Association members, thus removing barriers to entry.
Thank you to the Feva Class, Starcross Yacht Club, and all of the parent and SYC volunteers who helped in safety boats and onshore.
