Royal Harwich Yacht Club 'Cruise in Company' series continues

Royal Harwich Yacht Club's 2023 Cruise in Company schedule is now in full swing with 13 yachts joining the second trip of the season to Burnham on Crouch.

The fleet was assisted by a gentle breeze and a flooding tide, with some of the yachts choosing to dust off and deploy cruising chutes. A gentle sail down over the Spitway and into the Crouch (Thanks to ECP for their invaluable updates) meant we got there in good time and unscathed.

Once all berthed, the fleet's attention quickly turned to the volunteer 'Party Boats' consisting of 30 sailors adorning food, beer, wine, and laughter across 3 cockpits and running into the late hours.

Crews awakened to another warm day and quickly limbered up through bike rides and walks around the town to meet at the Royal Burnham Yacht club for Sunday Lunch - and they didn't disappoint.

After a few pre-lunch beverages, the fleet were served the most delicious Sunday lunch by the most welcoming of staff and then settled into some post lunch entertainment - largely consisting of one of the sailors banging out tunes, on demand, on Royal Burnham's recently-tuned piano. Fortunately, the Royal Burnham's Commodore didn't seem to mind and may have joined in the singing.

After a long siesta, more food and laughter, preparations were made for departure the following day. After a full breakfast, yachts with prop walks were man handled out of berths and the fleet headed back to base. The trip home was relatively uneventful apart from one of our yachts who was determined and impressively succeeded to sail berth to berth.

Our thanks go to the Royal Burnham Yacht Club and Burnham on Crouch Marina for all their support in making this a fantastic weekend.

The cruise in company programme has been designed to appeal to all levels of experience, visiting varied locations and linking up with local festivities. If you are interested in learning more, please contact:
