Marine Jobs is proud to announce the Cairns Maritime Careers Open Day, which will take place on Saturday 13th May between 9:00am and 1:00pm from TAFE Queensland's Great Barrier Reef International Marine College on Tingira Street, Portsmith.

The event will host over 30 businesses from the marine/reef tourism and manufacturing industries, as well as the defence, supply chain and sustainment, commercial shipping, and superyacht sectors.

Every 30 minutes visitors can take guided tours through Austal, Norship, and Tropical Reef Shipyard as personalised information is provided to attendees through live activations and career information sessions. Please note enclosed shoes required to take part in these onsite tours.

Champions of local industry will be on hand to discuss apprenticeships and the sectors focus to increasing employment opportunities. Training organisations and apprenticeship centres will be available to discuss how to gain the highly sought-after industry-standard tickets and licenses.

The event will also feature a live radio broadcast from the Great Barrier Reef International Marine College and demonstrations including the fire simulator will provide attendees with a unique experience.

Over 30 businesses from the marine/reef tourism and manufacturing industries, as well as the defence, supply chain and sustainment, commercial shipping, and superyacht sectors will be present, including well-known local businesses such as the Navy, BAE Systems, Norsta, Coral Expeditions, Experience Co, Superyacht Group Great Barrier Reef and North Marine to name but a few of the exhibitors.

The primary focus of the event is to highlight the local career opportunities in the marine/reef tourism and manufacturing industries, as well as the global career opportunities in the defence, supply chain and sustainment, commercial shipping, and superyacht sectors.

A jobs board will be available for career seekers to see first-hand the immediate job opportunities that exist within the region. The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to register online to secure their place.

This event held in collaboration with Workforce Australia - Local Jobs Program, The Cairns Chamber of Commerce, Superyacht Group Great Barrier Reef, and is supported by the Queensland Government through the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training, TAFE Queensland's Great Barrier Reef International Marine College and their state government initiatives of Cairns Regional Jobs Committee, and Jobs Queensland.
