Race Sunrise to Sunset with the Leigh & Lowton S2S Event

The absence of a long distance team-based race in the NW made the members of Leigh & Lowton SC wonder if they could put in place a suitable event - thus the S2S Race was born in 2022. Without the ability to run overnight racing for safety reasons, the maximum time that could be raced was limited to daylight hours.

So on a date close to the Summer Solstice at 0440 hrs the race was started and concluded some 17 hours later. 12 teams from 5 different clubs took part in winds varying from F1-3 throughout the day, with a pre-party on Friday night and a post-party on Saturday entertaining the sailors and their families.

2023 rolls around and the club has scheduled the second event for Saturday 10th June. Entries are open (see below) and with free camping for tents, caravans and campervans we anticipate another spectacular event with a great blend of racing and socialising.

We look forward to welcoming clubs from across the country to get involved in this unique event, raced in GP14s, Enterprises and Fireflys. Who is going to challenge Leigh & Lowton for the title? Toddbrook and Combs came close last year, only being overhauled on the final lap.
