GWA Wingfoil World World Cup Leucate 2023 - Overall

by Gemma Hamaini 12 Apr 21:35 BST 4-10 April 2023

Despite the crew and athletes remaining on standby, the wind did not materialise for the final day of competition in Leucate.

The course was set, the riders were ready, but the conditions were unsuitable for competition on our final day in France. This means that the Surf-Freestyle finals were unfortunately not run, meaning the final results would be a joint first place for our two finalists, Alan Fedit and Xavi Corr and a joint 3rd place for Balz Muller and Axel Gerard.

The final results for the men's Surf-Freestyle discipline are:

1st Alan Fedit and Xavi Corr
3rd Balz Muller and Axel Gerard

The final results for the women's Surf-Freestyle discipline are:

1st Bowien van der Linden
2nd Nia Suardiaz
3rd Paula Novotna

For the men's FreeFly Slalom discipline we managed to complete two full eliminations.

The final results for the men's FreeFly-Slalom discipline are:

1st Mathis Ghio
2nd Bastien Escofet
3rd Titouan Galea

For the women's FreeFly-Slalom we managed to complete three eliminations.

The final results for the women's FreeFly-Slalom discipline are:

1st Nia Suardiaz
2nd Paula Novotna
3rd Orane Ceris

To wrap up the event, we ran a tow-in best trick competition, where Benjamin May took the win in front of the crowds.

That's a wrap for the GWA Wingfoil World Cup France. It has been an incredible event, enjoyed by everyone. We would like to thank all of the riders, organizers, sponsors, and crew for making this event a huge success. We look forward to returning next year!
