With a gentle breeze currently forecast, Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th April look like the perfect days for Bala Sailing Clubs Easter Regatta. With 6 races over the 2 days and a 1pm start on the Saturday to allow people time to travel and rig, this mixed fleet handicap event is open to monohull dinghies, multihulls and sportsboats.

A live band is planned for the Saturday evening along with a meal and the galley will be open all weekend providing access to breakfast, lunch and snacks after racing concludes.

For those of you who have not sailed at Bala Lake (Llyn Tegid), it is an incredible setting at just under 4 miles long and 3/4 mile wide surrounded by the most incredible backdrop.

The 2022 Easter regatta saw 18 boats in the handicap fleet and 13 in the asymmetric fleet with Dan Johnson and Ben Lathan (Weston SC - Fireball) taking the Fast Handicap fleet (and overall) honours, James Wynn-Edwards (Bartley SC - Laser) taking top spot in the Slow Handicap fleet (and 3rd overall) with Andy and Mart Couch (Blithfield SC - VX1) top place in the Asymmetric fleet.

Entries can be made at webcollect.org.uk/daymembership/event/easter-regatta-2023-bala-sc and for further information you can contact the Commodore on for any other questions. Entry for the weekend is £25 for single handed and £35 for double handed (crew) with a 50% discount on both for juniors.

Visitors have a range of camping sites nearby and the club has a large foreshore where boats can be stored over the weekends event. Access to the club is via a secure gate with access codes being provided on entry.

Whether you have visited us before or a new visitor, we look forward to welcoming you.
