Chase Sailing Club 2023 - The Season So Far

After a well-earned winter break, Chase Sailing Club is fully back up and running in full fashion. The season kicked off with the Icicle series, with a great turnouts of up to 20 boats in the depths of winter; even the snow couldn't put off the foolhardy, taking the ice off the boats and some even having to de-ice their kit that they had decided to leave in their boat.

After a long series of tight racing between the top contenders, it all came down to a single point, with Fin winning over all in his Laser, although a late charge from the ever present GP14 of Stringer & Tate tried to upset the party the best they could, with Mark rounding out the top three in his Blaze.

It's not all about the club racing though. Adam has been out and about in his Phantom winning the Ovington Inlands and taking what looked like a tough second place at the recent Bowmoor open, as well as showing everyone the way round when he was at the club.

Also, our ever present GP14 fleet gave the visitors to our Open Meeting a tough time. With four home boats in the top ten, and two of them in the top three, with Matt Mee & Chris Robinson taking a masterful win over Graham & Chris A.

A special mention should also go to the crowd from Trimpley, who always come down to Chase for the GP14 open, it was great to you all again.

Finally, our Laser/ILCA fleet at Chase is blossoming, with new faces joining the fleet making for great racing. They are now starting to stretch their wings a little and have venture to their first Laser open at Shustoke. In their first open, Fin and Elsa secure fourth and eighth respectively, with Matt (Elsa's Dad) left with a little catching up to do, however it was a great effort all round, nice work!

Coming in the next couple of months we have:

  • 22nd/23rd April: Phantom Inland Championships
  • 7th May: ILCA/Laser Open
  • 25th June: Merlin Rocket Open

Entry for all the events above can be found at our website www.chasesc.org.uk

Also if you're interested in joining the club, why not pop down on a weekend and see what we're all about!

See you all out on the water!
