After a short hiatus, the 24/7 on-water towing and assistance company for recreational boaters, TowBoatUS Portland Oregon, is back and reopened at Fred's Marina on the Multnomah Channel. Since 1946, Fred's has been offering on-water moorage, gas and other marine services to boaters. Capt. Richard Rich, as well as other U.S. Coast Guard-licensed captains helm the company's two 26-foot red TowBoatUS response vessels. The captains plan to continue the exceptional service provided by Capt. Ted Carr, who retired in 2021.

The return of TowBoatUS service is welcomed by mariners across the lower Columbia River basin, offering professional on-water help when they need it the most. The company provides boat towing, ungroundings, battery jumps and fuel drop-off services.

Much like an auto club for recreational boat owners, Boat Owners Association of The United States (BoatUS) offers on-water Unlimited Towing Memberships for freshwater boaters and anglers for just $99 per year. Included are more than 25 BoatUS benefits including discounts at local fuel docks and transient slips at marinas. Also included with membership is a subscription to BoatUS Magazine, free DSC-VHF radio registration and more.

With the reopening, new Fred's Marina moorage customers receive an extra benefit: a complimentary one-year BoatUS Unlimited Towing Membership.

The company's service area includes the Columbia River from the Bonneville Dam to Astoria including the Willamette River to Oregon City Falls. The location is part of the nationwide TowBoatUS fleet of more than 600 red assistance vessels that respond to more than 90,000 requests for routine assistance each year. In Portland, engine failures and engines that won't start due to batteries being drained after a long day top the list of reasons they call TowBoatUS.

Separate from BoatUS on-water towing, the company offers boat salvage services.

The fastest way to request assistance from TowBoatUS Portland Oregon is to download the free BoatUS App, which connects boaters to the closest local towing captain. Additionally, the company can be reached at 503-308-1270, or by phoning the BoatUS toll-free 24/7 Dispatch Center at 800-391-4869.
