With events like the SailGP Inspire regatta this month in Christchurch it’s easy to see why the RS Feva class has taken off in New Zealand.

“The class is so successful in New Zealand – we are seeing kids sailing together and parents sailing with their children, and SailGP is the icing on the cake for a great summer,” says Hayden Whitburn of NZ Sailcraft.

37 of these awesome crews, including around 50% females, will take place in SailGP Inspire – a showcase that precedes the GP event each day.

Sailors will not only race on the same course in the special preview event, they will also get a chance to go behind the scenes, attend tech tours meet the teams and get out to watch the F50 foiling catamarans in action.

It includes a free coaching clinic led by Olympians Jenny Armstrong, Simon Cooke and Eric Stibbe and is the final key event before the class national championships at Royal Akarana Yacht Club in Auckland where around 50 crews are expected, including an international entrant from New Caledonia – and that regatta helps to pave the way to the RS Feva World Championships in Italy from 24-28 July 2023 where NZ hope to defend their title once again.

NZ Sailcraft and the RS Feva Association are supporting the SailGP Inspire Series by providing logistical support. A 40 foot container will soon arrive in Christchurch full of boats. Charter boats will be available to purchase after the regatta. For a special pre-sale deal on an ex charter boat, contact Hayden on 027 210 2383 or
