It's party time at the Royal Windermere Yacht Club, where we will be celebrating 60 years of the Flying Fifteen fleet at the club. The club has a very high standard of sailing, including 4 times World Champion Steve Goacher and currently boasts a fleet of 25 boats.

The Open Meeting on 15-16 April is part of the Lakeland Grand Prix series, and the sailing programme will include three back-to-back races on Saturday, with two on Sunday.

On Saturday night however, the focus will shift from sailing to partying. Our lead sponsor for the event is Goacher Sails and we are immensely grateful to Chris and Hannah Robinson for generously contributing a F15 jib, which will be the star prize of a raffle.

Other prizes will include a F15 cover generously donated by Impact Marine, Carnforth, Vouchers from Windermere Lake Cruises, support from Ovington Boats, Champagne and more.

The raffle will take place following a four course bowl food meal prepared and served by Julian Ankers, the Cumbrian Chef, whist we enjoy good company in the bar, dissect the day's racing and set ourselves free on the dance floor to the disco.

Once racing has concluded on Sunday, there will be a prize-giving afternoon tea (included with entry fee).

Entry fee is a modest £25 per boat, and Saturday evening food is £35 per head.

Please come and join us for this once in a lifetime event. Early entries would be appreciated as we cannot take food orders with entry on the day.

You'll be made very welcome at RWYC... So come along and join the fun! Enter online at www.royal-windermere.co.uk

Morning lost as a trail of smoke was only disturbed by a passing cormorant It is a truth, universally acknowledged, that the Royal Windermere Yacht Club's 17ft Class don't start racing until 2.20pm; and that after 150 years' experience, there must be a reason for it.
