On the 4th of February the 4.2 squad travelled to Weymouth, unfortunately not joined by Max, our lead coach, and three of the squad. Instead James led the weekend, joined by Eva.

The main focus of the weekend was boat speed so once we got on the water we did rabbit runs upwind and downwind. The aim of the exercise was to focus on the controls; kicker, downhaul and outhaul and also the centre of effort. We learnt that by letting go of the tiller you could see if you had the centre of effort right. After lunch the wind died a lot so we came in early.

On Sunday morning there was a lot more wind, so we started with some more rabbit runs, then piggy in the middle and banging the corners, all while working on boat speed and strategy. In the afternoon the wind died again, so we did one race with the 5.3's and then had to find 'creative' ways of getting back to shore. On the way in we were briefly joined by a dolphin, which was a great way to end the weekend.

Overall it was a fun weekend, despite the lack of wind at times and our missing friends. The atmosphere at Weymouth was great and having the opportunity to sail at the British Sailing Team HQ was inspiring. It's just a shame that the next camp is the last one but I am very much looking forward to it.
