America's Cup 2024 and Marina Port Vell Barcelona sign partnership

America's Cup and Marina Port Vell Barcelona sign partnership to become the Preferred Marina for Superyachts visiting Barcelona during the regatta in 2024.

Through this agreement, Marina Port Vell becomes the Preferred Marina for Superyachts for the 37th America's Cup and will be a hotspot for the event.

During the months of the competition, the marina will host dozens of superyachts visiting Barcelona for the America's Cup, enabling front row enjoyment of the regatta and VIP experiences in an unbeatable location.

This agreement reinforces the international reputation of Barcelona as a hub for superyachts in the Mediterranean, positioning the city as a leading destination and highlights the marina's valuable contribution to the city and its surroundings. Barcelona, 17 of January of 2023.

Marina Port Vell Barcelona, a key facility in the Mediterranean for superyachts, has been named as the Preferred Superyacht Marina for the 37th America's Cup, to be held in Barcelona between August and October 2024.

Together Marina Port Vell, ACE Barcelona SL, the America's Cup official organisers and BWA Yachting, the Official Superyacht services partner for the 37 th America's Cup, will collaborate in the development of the America's Cup Superyacht Program (ACSY) to offer their world leading services to the superyachts attending. Thanks to this agreement, booking of berths at Marina Port Vell for the America's Cup period will be managed through a centralized booking system run by BWA Yachting.

Marina Port Vell is the Mediterranean's specialized facility for superyachts and with its unique and stunning location in the city center, next to the regatta course makes it the perfect choice and why the official organiser of the event, ACE Barcelona SL, has designated it as the Preferred Superyacht Marina of the America's Cup. More than 40 boats and superyachts have already requested mooring at its facilities to attend this sporting event, further strengthening the city of Barcelona as a superyacht hub in the Mediterranean and as a leading destination for this sector.

In the words of Grant Dalton, CEO of ACE Barcelona SL and Emirates Team New Zealand, " From the start of our discussions with Barcelona and Catalunya as the potential host venue for the America's Cup event, we have been very impressed by the extent and quality of marinas, ports and facilities that can be offered to visiting yachts. Marina Port Vell is unique in its position in Port Vell, so close to the City Centre and next to the Team Bases for the America's Cup event so we are very pleased with this partnership. We have no doubt that visiting superyachts will have an incredible experience at this world class marina. " Ignacio Erroz, General Manager of Marina Port Vell Barcelona, celebrated the signing of this agreement, stating "We are delighted and excited to be part of this important event. The team at Marina Port Vell are already working together with Grant Dalton and ACE Barcelona, the official organising authority of the America's Cup so that this edition is the best in the entire history of the competition".

World leading services for superyachts and a hub for official America's Cup Merchandise

During the competition, Marina Port Vell will serve superyachts and boats that are visiting Barcelona for the event. The aim will be to offer a unique and memorable experience to customers, with the marina appointing a dedicated team solely focused on providing high value-added services, and plans to multiply its resources to meet the expected high demand, generating a positive economic impact for the local community and multiple special social occasions for everyone to enjoy.

In addition, the agreement will allow Marina Port Vell to sell the official event merchandising for the 37th America's Cup at its facilities, for which a commercial space will be created that will offer customers an exclusive shopping environment.

Celebration of exclusive events in its facilities

During the competition, which will take place in the summer of 2024, it is expected that exclusive spaces for events at the marina such as The Sea Garden, the Blue Wave or the Crew Lounge, located in a stunning location above the sea with unique views of Port Vell and the City, will host key celebrations and special events with interest from visiting superyacht owners and leading international brands that have already shown interest to book the venue for the days of the America's Cup.

In addition to these spaces, the marina's docks and buildings will be prepared to host shopping areas, events, and social gatherings, such as award winning and recently renovated, The Gallery, the marina's flagship building. Finally, Marina Port Vell Barcelona is carrying out a major investment project of its main facilities, including a beautiful new landscaping project that will increase the green spaces of the Marina, making a warmer and more welcoming gateway to the stunning city of Barcelona.
