Whilst it may be Blue Monday, the most depressing day of the year, members and friends of Bassenthwaite Sailing Club have lots to look forward to in the forthcoming 2023 sailing season.

The Catapult open meeting and Mirror Northern Championship kick off our open meeting calendar on the Early May Bank Holiday. Just two weeks later (13/14 May) we welcome the combined Flying Fifteen and GP14 open meeting, once again sponsored by Impact Marine. On the 17/18th June the site will be buzzing with youth sailors competing for the RYA North Regional Junior Championship. Moving into July (Sat 8th) it's one for the young and old single handers, with a one day combined Laser, Solo and RS Tera open meeting.

Then the big one, the legendary week long regatta, CraftInsure Bass Week, starting on 5th August. We are delighted to announce CraftInsure as our Bass Week title sponsor for the third year running. This year the Classic FF15s will also join us for their national championships during the first weekend. Moving into September the Tinkers will join us on the 9/10 September. Then onto the other big one, the Great North Asymmetric Challenge, aka the GNAC. Now a firm favourite in the northern calendar, this years event is also part of the RS400 northern tour and will also be the RS200 Northern Championship. 70 boats made it to last year's start line, with young and old asymmetric sailors from all over the north racing in boats of all shapes and sizes, from RS Feva's to 49ers and VX Ones.

As always, legendary Bass hospitality welcomes all visitors to the club. And other than the Tinkers and the one day open in July, visitors are invited to camp, during open meetings, on our extensive grounds in the Lake District National Park.

And finally, if you haven't yet voted, Bassenthwaite SC is the North West representative in the 2023 RYA Club of the Year Award, supported by Sailing Today with Yachts & Yachting and Gallagher. We are a members club run by volunteers, where the love of all things sailing is celebrated on and off the water, by the young and the old, in an inclusive, fun and safe environment. We would really appreciate your vote.
