K6 Association 2023 programme of events

Inlands, Opens and Nationals! This year the K6 Association's 2023 programme of events offers a range of venues across the UK:

  • 1-2 April - The Sailing Chandlery K6 Inland Championships at Oxford Sailing Club. A return to this premier inland venue for two days of racing, sharing the event with Contenders and D-ones. Entries will open in March via the Oxford Sailing Club website.
  • 20 - 21 May - The Aldeburgh Open at Aldeburgh Yacht Club. Unique sailing on the broad reaches of the River Alde. Always a warm welcome and good sailing.
  • 1 - 2 July - Lord Birkett Trophy, Ullswater Yacht Club. Entries now open to this iconic event, ranked number 8 in Yachts and Yachting's top 50 'must do' sailing events, "The Birkett" is contested over 2 all class handicap races around the entire length of lake (approx 14 miles return). Full details and enter now on the Birkett website.
  • 13 - 19 August - The Aldeburgh Regatta, Aldeburgh Yacht Club with K6 race starts.
  • 21 - 24 September - K6 Nationals at Royal Torbay Yacht Club. Four days of racing at this World Class former Olympic venue.

Sharing their championship in the wonderful Torbay with the SB20s This year the K6 fleet shared their championship in the wonderful Torbay with the SB20s who were also holding their championship. All competitors plus family enjoy the renowned fish & chips at a member's home Aldeburgh Yacht Club hosted the second open meeting of the season for the K6 class on 20/21 May following the well-attended open meeting at Oxford in April. Posted on 25 May 2023 K6 Inland Championships at Oxford

April event for Contender, D-One and K6 has new sponsor Oxford Sailing Club has partnered with Sailing Chandlery to sponsor the Club's multi class open meeting on 1 and 2 April this year. Posted on 3 Feb 2023 K6 National Championship at Mylor
One of the most welcoming and engaging fleets this author has come across Arriving at Mylor on Thursday after a 7 hour drive, there was a sense of anticipation in the air. A few lucky competitors had made it onto the water for a training sail, with the rest setting up their boats and scoping out the pre-race bacon rolls. Posted on 22 Sep 2022 Aldeburgh K6 Open
Warm south easterly winds and a very enjoyable supper at the club Aldeburgh Yacht Club hosted the K6 open meeting over the weekend of May 14/15 with warm south easterly F3/4 winds on the Saturday (and a more gusty easterly on Sunday). Posted on 22 May 2022
