Rooster RS Feva GP3 Winter Championship at the WPNSA

The Championship started with little wind and an on the water postponement waiting for the breeze to fill in. Sailors took the opportunity to catch up with friends and after a little while the racing got under way. The race committee did well to get 3 races in under challenging conditions. Ben Greenhalgh and Tom Sinfield led the pack convincingly with 3 straight wins.

After a brilliant evening at the Dorset Burger Company playing crazy golf, the sailors awoke to very different conditions on Sunday morning. Imogen Green and Felicity Angell clearly enjoyed the stronger winds winning both races. The weekend finished with all the sailors having had a good blast and great fun in a variety of conditions that really tested their skills.

The championships was won by Ben Greenhalgh and Tom Sinfield from Port Dinorwic Sailing Club, also currently holding first place in the series results, closely followed by Imogen Green and Felicity Angell from Draycote Water Sailing Club taking second place, also currently standing in 2nd place in the series.

  • 3rd place went to Theo Smith and Will Cowley also from Draycote Water Sailing Club and Solihull School.
  • 4th place was awarded to Rebecca Knock and Tom Webb from Port Dinorwic Sailing Club.
  • 5th place was awarded to Max Rawlinson and Edie Johnson from Roa Island Boat Club.
  • 6th place was awarded to Ella Jones and Kate Gamble from Hayling Island Sailing Club.
  • 1st School Feva was awarded to Rosie Haydorn and Allegra Fleming from Sevenoaks School.
  • Feva Fun award was awarded to Daniel Larsen and George Aldridge from Magdalen College School.
  • Fevaship award was awarded by Ed Upton-Brown and Scarlett Gladman from Bosham Sailing Club.
  • Endeavour award was awarded to Ruby Callaghan and Laura Jubb from Hayling Island Sailing Club.
  • The Sailors Sailor for the GP3 was Jon Lai from Tonbridge School.

Once again the class would like to thank our Series Sponsor Rooster for their support throughout the series and thanks goes to Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy and all the volunteers for hosting a fun and successful Winter Championship. Our Race Officer Jon Milton said "the standard of sailing was impressive". 

We would like to thank the sailors and we admire their determination through some trying conditions this weekend. Thank you to all the parents, guardians, coaches and friends for your support to the sailors and the class, it is very much appreciated. Keep up with your training over the next couple of months and we look forward to seeing you all at our GP4 Spring Championship next Spring.
