Visicover, the online insurance specialist, has just received two awards for its unique approach to the provision of boat insurance

On 22nd November it won 'Broker Innovation Of the Year' at the European Risk Manager Awards. This award is given to a company which has "made a lasting impact on their clients through innovation and customer service".

The following day it went on to win 'Best Back End Technology Implementation' at the 2022 European Insurance Technology Awards. This was awarded for the manner in which Visicover has innovatively used technology to assess risk and streamline the online sales process, so that it can offer a better service to its customers.

What makes the Visicover service unique is that boat owners can not only buy their cover online but also update it via the website at any time as their requirements change. They can select the precise cover they want; from who uses the vessel, for what use and where, through to what type of insurance they require and to what value. Discounts reward more experienced users, along with those who have more securely stored vessels and those with a clean claims history.

This facility to 'tailor' their cover, combined with the efficiency of online self-service, means owners can make substantial savings on their insurance premiums.

The service can cater for most types of leisure vessel, from canoes / kayaks and windsurfers, personal watercraft and RIBs, to ocean-going yachts and cruisers. Special options are also available to allow 'live aboard' narrowboat owners to extend their policies to cover houseboat contents.

Jan Houlberg, Visicover CEO, said: "We firmly believe that technology can be used to enhance the service to our customers, providing them with more flexible, better value products which they can amend whenever they want. It is gratifying to know that the quality of our online boat insurance service, and the innovation behind it, has been recognized by our peers in the insurance industry through these awards."

About Visicover

Visicover is an award winning 'insurtech' intermediary. Through its website, policyholders can not only arrange their insurance but also manage all aspects of their policy, from amending their cover as their needs change, to updating their payment terms or accessing their full policy documentation history. This self-service model results in significantly lower operational costs, which can then be fed back to the client as premium savings.

The Visicover model also enables a radically different approach to product design, with policies being split in to their component covers. This means clients can just purchase their cover as they want it.

Visicover launched in 2013, providing insurance services to the owners of light aircraft. Since then it has grown in to one of the leading UK general aviation intermediaries, as well as extending the service to 9 other countries across Europe.
