Seven friendly events for sailors of all levels of experience

The UK Flying Fifteen Association has announced the dates of their Southern Traveller Series events for 2023 which are open to all types of Flying Fifteen: Classic, Silver and Gold fleet boats. These events are especially welcoming to club-level sailors and those not wishing to travel too far, and perhaps offer a less intimidating experience than competing at the big national Flying Fifteen events.

The series consists of a real mix of venues and sailing experiences: tidal river estuaries - Aldeburgh & Burnham-on-Crouch, large reservoirs - Chew Valley & Datchet, a mid-sized lake - Middle Nene, and a couple of puddles - South Cerney & Broxbourne.

All are welcoming family-orientated clubs which take very good care of visitors!

  • Datchet Sailing Club - 15th - 16th April 2023
  • Aldeburgh YC - 3rd - 4th June 2023
  • Middle Nene SC - 10th - 11th June 2023
  • Burnham on Crouch (RCYC) - 17th- 18th June 2023
  • Chew Valley Lake SC - 2nd - 3rd September 2023
  • South Cerney SC - 9th -10th September 2023
  • Broxbourne SC - 7th - 8th October 2023

Prizes are awarded at each event and the Flying Fifteen fleet handicapping system will be in operation meaning that all boats compete on a level playing field. In addition, competitors taking part in at least two events will qualify for the overall Southern Traveller series results, where separate Gold, Silver & Classic fleet prizes will also be awarded.

Please visit the UK Flying Fifteen website - www.flying15.org.uk - for more information about the series, or if you are short of a crew or need help with accommodation.
