Fifteen teams were at Burghfield Sailing Club this weekend (Oct 22-23) for the Reading Rumble Team Racing Event.

Saturday saw 75 races sailed in pretty perfect conditions under the HLS system to determine the Bronze, Silver and Gold Leagues for Sunday. After a very short wait the rain ceased and the full leagues and more were sailed, taking the races sailed up to 123 before going into the Semis and Finals.

These saw University College London, qualifying from the Silver League, facing Imperial College 1 while Imperial 2 and 3 were to contest the other Semi. Imperial 3 made short work of Imperial 2 going through 2:0. UCL managed to take Imperial 1 to a third race but failed to make the final coming 3,5,6 in the deciding race.

The Final of Imperial 1 v 3 was a very tight affair, Imperial 3 took the first two races, but Imperial 1 came back to take a very tight third race. The fourth race was equally tight with an umpire call at mark 4 putting Imperial 1 into the lead, and a further umpire call on the finishing line taking the victory away from them and giving a 3:1 win to Imperial 3. Much to the delight of the Imperial 3 team of Julian Fung & Fiona Erskine, Ivan Tregear & Margarita Solodovnikoff and Angel Baeza Gutierrez & Lauren Fehlmann (pictured).
