29er Eurocup at Riva del Garda - Day 1

150 crews, 19 nations and four days of racing for the final leg of the 29er Eurocup, the increasingly successful youth skiffs.

At Riva del Garda the last regatta of the season for Fraglia Vela Riva and the penultimate on Garda Trentino for this 2022.

It was a decidedly autumnal day the first of the four scheduled for the final leg of the 29er Eurocup, an event that has now become a regular fixture for the youth double acrobatic fleet, which also represents the grand finale for the regattas organised by Fraglia Vela Riva, which has believed in this class from the very beginning and which today also has its own crews among the protagonists.

After the stormy weather on Saturday, on this first day the northerly wind lasted well into the early afternoon, although it dropped inexorably, allowing two races to be held at around 11 knots (in the second race only at the start). The fleet of 150 crews was divided into two batteries, which raced on a single race course, positioned by the staff of the organising club and the Garda Trentino Vela Consortium, coordinated by the FIV Race Committee.

And it was immediately Italy and the Fraglia Vela Riva crew Demurtas-Santi, who with two firsts took the lead in the general classification, followed by two French crews, France 13 with Goron-Clochard (3-1) and France 3 Revil-Devaux (5-2). The first mixed crew, an excellent fourth, was that formed by Irishmen Clementine and Nathan Van Steenberge. Leading the girls were Sweden's Tea Zeeberg and Comelia Widestam.

Monday's start is scheduled for 10:00 am.
