With 145 entries and counting, the 29er EuroCup Final is to be held at the popular and picturesque Fraglia Vela Riva, Lake Garda, Italy. The European fleet are clearly happy to be back to regular racing after the inconsistency of the last few years and the field is strong as ever.

Currently leading the series is mixed siblings team - Clementine and Nathan Van Steenberge from Ireland, who are 51 points ahead of Hungarian Under 17 team of Soma Kis-Szölgyémi and Andrez Sámuel Juhász. The Italian team of Zeno Valerio Marchesini and Carlo Vittoli are a way behind in bronze position with the fleet behind them very tight on points, making the finals for certain a closely fought contest.

Winners of round 5, Czech Republic - the all female German team of Jule Ernst and Louisa Schmidt currently sit just outside the top ten in 13th position overall.

The EuroCup series gives teams a chance to measure up and compete against the best across Europe and visitors to Europe from further afield. There are 10 events spread across Europe both designed to support and build local fleets plus create a well supported series that all countries can join and experience world class racing all year round. Competitors must count their best 5 results in the series and their result in the EuroCup Final is non-discardable so any points obtained here in Italy will be added to their final score.

Lake Garda is one of the most popular venues for both sailors and families due to its prevalence of great sailing conditions (average 10-18 knots every day, 13-18 degrees air and water temperature), stunning scenery, outstanding cuisine and many local activities - a sports enthusiasts dream! Within an hour of Verona airport the area boasts over 100 hotels and the sailing club and marina are experienced in running professional regattas all year round.

See you on the 23rd of October!
