This was the first ever Supernova Open Ogston Sailing Club. The event had been eagerly awaited by the home sailors, many of whom are new to the class. Race day arrived with a healthy turnout of 20 boats, ranging from seasoned campaigners to a 15 year old junior.

With a strong wind coming in from the West, Andy Gomm the Race Officer, was able to set a good sized course using the southern leg of the reservoir.

All got away on the first race and as the visitors became accustomed the shifty Ogston wind everyone was able to make steady progress. Steve Hawley of Bartley SC ultimately taking the first bullet of the day.

All headed in for lunch, ready for some more action in the afternoon. Race 2 got away with Steven again taking the bullet, but pressed hard by Alan Bishop of Girton SC who was demonstrating that a Mk1 is still very capable in the right hands.

In the last race Steven was good enough to let someone else have a win and followed fellow Bartley sailor Mike Gibson to the finish.

Steven took the overall victory, Mike in second place, and Alan in third.

Ogston would like to thank everyone who made it such an enjoyable event, and we hope to see you again next year.
