A new direction for Lanéva! The Monegasque startup creator of exceptional and custom-built boats, will unveil its first 100% electric kit compatible with all brands of Vintage boats at the Monaco Yacht Show 2022 (MYS).

At this occasion, the startup will launch a new division, Lanéva Retrofit, offering industrialized retrofit kits for classic boats on the market.

Equipping a classic thermal boat with an electric motor and state-of-the-art technology is now possible. For this ambitious retrofit project, Lanéva has chosen to start with a boat from the legendary Riva® brand (part of the Ferretti Group) with the Ariston, a true icon of the pleasure boat market.

Presented exclusively at the Yacht Show, this exceptional boat has kept its original shaft line and is now equipped with a 150 kW electric motor certified in the automotive world and a Li-Ion battery certified to industrial standards. The boat reaches a speed of 30 knots and sails more than 2h30 at 15 knots.

As of September 28, MYS visitors will be able to discover the technology proposed by Lanéva, meet the team at the Sustainability Hub, see the boat on the dock in the Tenders & Toys section, and have the opportunity to make an appointment for a sea trial.

This project is fully in line with the national policy promoted by H.S.H. Prince Albert II. The Government of Monaco is pursuing a committed policy of energy transition, which should reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 55% by 2030 compared to 1990.

This first boat retrofit project in the Principality benefits from financial support from the Mission for Energy Transition (MTE) headed by Annabelle Jaeger-Seydoux.

When classic boats go green

Thanks to this first compatible kit integrated in a 1961 Riva® Ariston, Lanéva is developing its know-how and launched a new division, Lanéva Retrofit*, with the objective of developing the sale of industrialized retrofit kits for all classic boats on the market.

Compatible with brands such as Riva®, Boesch®, ChrisCraft® or Hacker Craft®, these kits will be installed by partner shipyards that will take care of the maintenance and the upkeep of the boats. And concerning future buyers, yachting enthusiasts and professionals, retrofit kits for classic boats will be available for pre-sale from September 28 on the startup's new website.

With this new activity, Lanéva challenges the yachting market and addresses both individuals and professionals, becoming the icon of luxury sailing zero emission.

Quotes

Annabelle Jaeger-Seydoux, Director of MTE: "Monaco's Green Fund co-finances companies' energy transition projects. Reducing CO2 emissions and innovation are part of our selection. Lanéva's project meets these criteria perfectly and opens the way for retrofit of boats, which limits the impact on resources by adapting existing boats to boats with electric motors. With one of the most famous boats on the Riviera, it demonstrates how to reconcile luxury and energy transition."

François Richard, CEO of Lanéva: "This new retrofit activity is a further step in our conquest of the high-end yacht market. We are now addressing the B2C and B2B markets. Whether they are 100% electric boats or retrofit kits, we are continuing to build our brand internationally with a growing range of products and services."

*Retrofit: Since April 4, 2020, it is allowed to electrify a thermal vehicle to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. This practice is called retrofit. In concrete terms, this means removing the combustion engine and replacing it with an electric motor and a battery (source: www.ecologie.gouv.fr)
