Nautilus Marine Insurance continues direct support of the sailing community with the announcement of Middle Harbour Yacht Club sponsorship.

Nautilus Marine Insurance and Middle Harbour Yacht Club are pleased to announce that from September 2022 Nautilus Marine Insurance will become a major sponsor of both the club, and the main event partner for the Sydney Short Ocean Racing Championship in November 2022, and the Sydney Harbour Regatta in March 2023.

Middle Harbour Yacht Club was created in 1939 by a group of local sailors including well-known local boat builder George Griffin. From the first meeting in the Griffin Brothers' Boatshed at the Spit, Middle Harbour Yacht Club went from strength to strength with the first official clubhouse opening in 1954. That year also saw the first of the offshore races conducted by the club and whilst a modest fleet of ten yachts, it set the tone of enthusiasm with sailors from all walks of life who are proud to be members.

This heritage, love of sailing, and spirit of co-operation is one that the team at Nautilus Marine Insurance embrace as they enter the sponsorship arrangement jointly announced by Middle Harbour Yacht Club CEO Mark Maybury, and Nautilus Marine Insurance CEO Lyndon Turner.

"Middle Harbour Yacht club is very excited to be able to partner with Nautilus Marine Insurance. Their reputation as trusted experts, and enthusiasm to support the sailing fraternity is very refreshing. I am particularly impressed with how they cater for all types of sailors from the smaller sailing dinghies right through to Grand Prix racing yachts." Maybury said. "We welcome them on board and look forward to building on this relationship with the club over many years to come."

CEO of Nautilus Marine Insurance Lyndon Turner is equally enthused about the new relationship saying "Supporting yacht owners and their passion is at the heart of what Nautilus Marine Insurance does. We really do understand what they need and relish this opportunity to share our expertise, and at the same time join the members of Middle Harbour Yacht Club with direct support for these two major events in the sailing calendar."

The 2022 Nautilus Marine Insurance Short Ocean Racing Championship in November draws on the many years of history of Middle Harbour Yacht Club and is this year celebrating its 45th Anniversary. The Championship can be a valuable lead up for the longer ocean races to come with an intense weekend of teamwork that takes in passage racing and windward/leeward courses for some, and the challenging Seven Islands Race for others, but with all experiencing the sometimes mixed conditions that frequently test race officials and sailors alike.

The Nautilus Marine Insurance Sydney Harbour Regatta was first held over 15 years ago. Now nearly 200 yachts gather annually to race on the waters of arguably one of the best sailing harbours in the world, or offshore within sight of the harbour entrance.

Yachts will race on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th March 2023 across 19 divisions from historic 18ft skiffs to high tech carbon fibre TP52s. The fleets include sailors and clubs from all over NSW and further afield who gather at the invitation of Middle Harbour Yacht Club to compete on courses that give an exciting change from regular club racing, and a chance for spectators to line harbour viewing spots to catch all the action.

Sailing clubs across Sydney also support this preeminent Middle Harbour Yacht Club event with officials, volunteers and on water resources that come together over the two days to ensure a memorable regatta for all participants.

Of course, Nautilus Marine Insurance's relationship with Middle Harbour Yacht Club continues onshore as the newly announced sponsorship is designed to support all club members from offshore aficionados, to off the beach classes including the club's extensive junior sailing program.

Club CEO Mark Maybury highlighted this comprehensive support when commenting that "a big part of the sailing experience happens back in the clubhouse. The onshore location and activity for our sailors is very important and we have been reimagining the use of our space to create new and improved amenities for our members and guests. There will be the opening of a new waterside restaurant in November, and the development of a member's lounge coupled with an active social and events calendar. So, a perfect time for Nautilus Marine Insurance to become a member!"

The crew at Nautilus Marine Insurance agree as they are as passionate about yachting and their boats as the Middle Harbour Yacht Club members and regatta competitors. They take great pride in what they do, their expertise, and their commitment to support boat owners. A perfect match...
