James Sainsbury's latest home-build Moth - on a boat, with a boat!

Ok, so it has been a frantic week with lots of hours put in on the little ship.

Reinforcements around the wings are done, along with finishing off the gantry and prodder.

At the same time, a bit of filling on the hull and sanding, all day outside on the hottest day since the dawn of time.

Then it was on to rigging, shrouds, kicker, cunningham, wand adjuster and elastic take-ups.

The timer ran out on Thursday afternoon when everything was packed up and we headed down South to the ferry.

With the boat locked away we are now enjoying a well earned full english and a beer, and making the list of final things that need doing before its maiden sail:

  • Fit gantry
  • Fit sail
  • Adjust control lines
  • Fit and sort angle of attack on foils
  • Finish pushrod control system
Then go for a test sail before the start of the event on Monday!

Editor's note: This has been (and continues to be) an epic build, and shows just how possible it is to home-build a foiling Moth, but this must be a record time from start to finish! Well done James, and really hope the final fitting goes well and can't wait for the pictures of the first sail!
