Two weeks until Bassenthwaite Sailing Club welcomes visitors and members to CraftInsure Bass Week 2022, starting on Saturday 30th July. It's going to be another busy one, both on and off the water with over 160 boats entered so far.
Bass Week is a true regatta week, with a mix of mini-series and one-off races, hopefully a long distance race up the lake (4 miles) on Monday and two pursuit races, one on Tuesday and the other on Thursday. Over 9 days competitors can potentially join all 18 races, although many choose to sit out the odd one or two and watch with a cold refreshment - look out for drinks promotions sponsored by Cumbrian Ales and Ennerdale Craft Brewery!
The Lasers are leading the fleets, with 26 entered, closely followed by the Solo fleet which continues to grow with 18 entries. Competition is going to be hot in the mixed Tera, Topper and Mirror fleet, with 10 Mirrors, 10 Toppers and 9 RS Teras already entered. Within the 10 fleets are class starts for Enterprises, GP14s and FF15s. Then in the fast, medium and slow handicap fleets, we have a mix of Merlin Rockets, RS400s, ICONs, RS Aeros and Graduates.
This year Bass Week's infamous social programme includes 4 live bands, the return of DJ Enterprise for Saturday's themed beach party, lots of activities to keep the youngsters (and the oldies) entertained when not on the water, including children's parties and discos, a quiz and a treasure hunt.
On the water the event will be once again supported by Red Seal Rescue, a group of volunteers from the North East who regularly provide first class safety cover at Bassenthwaite SC and throughout the region. You can visit their webpage here.
We are no longer accepting entries for caravans and motorhomes but welcome sailors who wish to camp in a tent or stay off site. Entry, NOR and SSI can be found here. Although early entry discounts are long gone, it's still very competitive to camp and sail for 9 days in the glorious Lake District National Park.
Throughout the week you can visit our Bass Week website for daily reports, results, photographs and general Cumbrian craic from William and the many race teams.
