Lago Maggiore International RS Aero Regatta at Unione Velica Maccagno

by RS Aero International Class Association 22 Jun 2022 04:51 BST 16-19 June 2022

Following three days of training in the Italian alpine lake paradise the 22 competitors were ready to take to the race course for three days of racing at the Lago Maggiore International RS Aero Regatta.

The popular event has gained a nice reputation as a relaxed sociable regatta with a good mix of nations, rather than a fiercely fought 'Championship'!

Sailors visited from Switzerland, Germany, Netherlands and France and raced as one fleet with corrected time scoring to enable the four RS Aero fleets to compete together. The four fleets were well spread through the results and it was nice to see three of the new RS Aero 6s represented for the first time in mainland Europe as the new rigs are steadily delivered worldwide this year.

The wind varied between a good hiking breeze and a softer breeze at times. The sun shone and the beautiful lake with the alpine backdrop looked sensational!

Congratulations to all the fleet winners and especially the Christian Brandt (GER), our German RS Aero Dealer, for taking the overall victory in his RS Aero 7. There were three rig sizes represented on the overall podium with Jan Baulke (GER) in 2nd) in his RS Aero 6 and Heiko Maier (SUI) 3rd in his RS Aero 9.
