RYA honour the years best Instructors and Coaches

by Ellie Williamson, RYA 26 Feb 2007 16:15 GMT 4:45pm, 3 March 2007

This Saturday (3rd March) the RYA will award its prestigious National Coaching Awards to 2007’s top instructors and coaches. The eagerly anticipated award ceremony will take place at the world’s biggest dinghy show, the RYA Dinghy Sailing Show, Alexandra Palace, at 4:45pm on the West Hall stage.

The RYA introduced these awards to acknowledge the importance of instructors and coaches within the UK’s boating community. Categories cover all aspects of boating, from powerboating to dinghy sailing, windsurfing, squad racing and club racing from grass roots to Olympic level.

This year the RYA will also be presenting the first ever overall RYA Instructor/Coach of the Year title to the most outstanding of this year’s winners.

Award supporters, Gul, will present a generous £500 worth of sailing kit to the overall winner along with some other goodies for each awarded instructor and coach.

The 11 exceptional coaches and instructors who will be given a training award for remaining at the top of their coaching/instructing disciplines through out 2006 include;

Kirsty Bonar – Squad Coach
Eddy Shelton – Club Coach
Josh Metcalfe – Under 21 Coach

Terry McFall – Powerboat Instructor
Rick Lewendon – Personal Watercraft Instructor
