Musto Lark National Championships 2022 at Pentewan Sands Sailing Club - Day 2

by John Brickwood 2 Jun 2022 20:37 BST 1-4 June 2022

Day two started with a gentle easterly breeze. The fleet launched safely from the east facing beach and made a short beat to the starting area. Race 1 of the day was started with a gate start and lead at the windward mark by the pathfinder Matt White & Marion Enkel followed by Chris & Nicola White second.

Matt & Marion went on to win, with Chris & Nicola second, and Steve Cumley & Eluned Stewart third.

For race two the race officer set a line start. After a general recall the fleet eventually got away with John Brickwood & Andy Hicks leading at the windward mark. Matt & Marion were close behind and pushed John & Andy all the way to the finish, with John & Andy just hanging on for the race win. Chris & Nicola White finished third, Tim Fells & Frances Gifford fourth.

For race three the wind dropped slightly making conditions difficult to keep boats moving through the choppy conditions. The race was started with a line start and lead at the windward mark by John & Andy from Matt & Marion.

Matt & Marion took the lead on the run and went on win from Chris & Nicola White second passing John & Andy who hit the leeward mark and took a penalty turn.

Matt and Marion are now Championship leaders after posting two firsts and a second.
