The Just Jane Trophy was contested at Silver Wing Sailing Club in Wraysbury, luckily not right under, on this occasion, the flight path to Heathrow Airport.

The forecast robust WSW 10-14 kts however sadly failed to appear except typically between races and at lunchtime. R.O. Pete Philips and his assistant Stuart Oborn capably oversaw 4 races around the lake with every nuance of sailing visited.

Gargantuan lifts and stupendous headers had everyone on their toes as the fleet wended to windward marks and manoeuvred in and around holes on various runs and reaches.

As usual, the evergreen Nigel Bird and his young wife Andy demonstrated perfect pond sailing to claim firsts in three races. Birdy was lucky in the first race as returning Enterprisers Richard and Catherine Gray sailed towards the wrong buoy during a Senior moment and had to retrace their course allowing Birdy through.

Never a dull moment in any race as place changing was frequent throughout the fleet. The only really consistent competitors being the Birds who deserved the overall win on a warm sunny May Saturday, where everyone enjoyed the variety of conditions. Richard and Catherine snatched 2nd overall from Ann Jackson and David Manson by pipping the Birdy's in the 4th race.

Thanks to the Race Officers and also the Galley Team who provided a delicious afternoon tea.
