SMG awarded Sole Distribution for ThrustMe in the UK

by SM Group 19 May 2022 05:01 BST

SM Group (Europe) Limited ("SMG") are pleased to announce their appointment as sole distributor for the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands for the Norwegian based brand ThrustMe.

ThrustMe was established in 2015 to develop electrical propulsion solutions and to produce products with a functional, lightweight and smart design.

The ThrustMe team has over 20 years of experience gained from the Subsea and aviation industry and are therefore well equipped with knowledge and the know-how to develop a technically strong product range, which initially sees the Cruiser and Kicker Electric Outboards being introduced.

The Kicker is designed for ship-to-shore tenders, small lake boats and inshore fishing inflatables. It weighs in at just 4.4Kg (nearly 10kg lighter than the smallest petrol outboard), making it the lightest electric outboard with a built-in lithium battery available on the market today. Combined with a runtime of up to 2.5 hours, remote control and six forward and reverse speeds, the Kicker is the ideal portable outboard solution for the marine and fishing market.

The Cruiser, weighing in at even less, 3.3Kg, is designed specifically for the water sports market and is primarily aimed at Kayakers, Canoeists and SUP users. The motor can easily be interchanged between canoes and boards making it excellent value and being lighter, the runtime is increased to up to 4 hours.

SMG, as with all new products, have thoroughly tested the motor in both inland and harbour conditions and have been extremely impressed. It was recently on display at the South Coast Boat Show where it gained huge acclaim.

Nick Edgington, New Business Sales Manager from SMG commented; "It has been high on our agenda to introduce a lithium powered outboard into our portfolio in response to our customer's demands. We are keen to ensure that the selected brand is aligned with our strategy of offering quality and value. The ThrustMe products not only answer this, but also have many unique features that we know will be popular in the marine market. ThrustMe have a great understanding of what is needed to become a market-leader."

Both products are available to pre-order, expected to be in stock in June 2022.
