Jonah Yick and crew have been busy with Swords and good Tuna the Last week © Spot On Fishing Hobart

With most Brown Trout waters closing as of Sunday, don't miss your last chance on some good fishing.

Freshwater

Brady's Chain: The fishing really has come alive the last week. Good healthy Rainbows and Browns have been reported. The stand out lake of the chain has been Binny fishing well to both trolling and drift spinning.

Derwent River: A fair few Searun Trout and resident trout have been found around the river from the Bridgewater Bridge and further upstream around the margins.

Lake Pedder: Over the last weekend anglers reported good healthy fish throughout the lake. Trolling and drift spinning have both been productive.

Woods Lake: Has been fishing well for both the lure and fly angler. The fish have been in good condition, feeding in the deeper parts of the lake. The shallow margins have been difficult due to the weed.

Saltwater

Bream: Bream continue to be caught above the Bridgewater Bridge with some healthy 35cm+ fish in amongst smaller models. The Huon River has also been producing good fish around Castle Forbes Bay. Smaller fish have been scattered around the lower shores of the Derwent.

Tuna: The Tuna have been in full swing over the last week. With the Australian Bluefin comp run anglers found it tough, but that's to be expected with a large fleet of boats all competing.

Storm Bay, Eagle Hawk and Cape Roul all producing Bluefin and further offshore still some good Albacore. Reports of some larger Bluefin being lost as well.

Australian Salmon: The salmon have been widely reported, along the east coast and Derwent estuary. Some big fish were caught off Pirates Bay over the weekend.

Snapper: Over the last week good numbers of smaller fish and a few good models from 50cm to 60cm have been caught on the reefs and recks off Betsy Island. This time of year the snapper will start to move to deeper water so opportunity of catching in other areas may improve.

Calamari: The East Coast has really started to produce fantastic sized squid over the last week. The bays around Southern Maria have been the standout.

Mackerel: The Mackerel haven't stopped over the last few months and don't appear to be going anywhere any time soon.

Swordfish: The last week has seen many anglers doing really well on the Swords with either fish landed or missed bits. This year is shaping up to be one of the best seasons in years.
