Ladies National Team Racing Champs at Spinnaker Club

Thirteen teams arrived at Spinnaker Club in the New Forest from as far away as Manchester, Durham and Edinburgh. Once again the event was sponsored by Joules Clothing and whilst light, the wind became steady after an hour or so to enable racing to begin.
60 races were completed on the Saturday with Society, formed from ex Oxford and Cambridge students, looking strong. They were closely followed by West Kirby Southampton University 1, tied with Wessex Exiles for third place. The final 18 races of the round robin were completed by lunchtime on Sunday, and the 4 teams mntioned entered the semi-finals. Very close racing saw Society beat Wessex Exiles, and West Kirby needed 3 races to beat Southampton 1.
The final was won in 2 races by Society over West Kirby but only by one point in each race. Third place was achieved by Southampton 1 over Wessex Exiles but it needed 3 close races.
Society was represented by: Dominica Lindsey, Jenny Johnson, Ari Liddell, Emma Beasley, Rachel Morrison, and Nicole Johnson, who has won this event 6 times now in different teams.
