Ullman Sails Long Beach Race Week is back! Benched for two years due to covid restrictions, the west coast's favorite fun regatta returns with gusto June 24 to 26, 2022: co-hosted by Alamitos Bay Yacht Club (ABYC) and Long Beach Yacht Club (LBYC) and sponsored by Ullman Sails.

This marks the 17th year LBYC and ABYC have joined hands to organize this premier event, and the clubs are stoked to welcome sailors back. Already competitors are signing up, eager to return to the course and enjoy the unique and thrilling combo that only USLBRW offers: superb racing by day and sublime partying by night. This perennial favorite marks the pinnacle of summer racing for sailors from the west coast and beyond, and this year kicks off a new season of post-pandemic adventure.

Registration, plus measurement and weigh-in for one-design classes as required, will take place at LBYC Thursday June 23 from 1200 to 1800 and Friday June 24 from 0800 to 1000. Immediately after Bruce Cooper will present an Ullman Sails Weather Talk at 1015, followed by a Skippers' meeting at 1030.

And then the fun begins!

Over 100 boats are expected to heed the first warning at 1255 Friday and launch USLBRW 2022. Racing will begin at 1155 Saturday and Sunday.

Seven windward-leeward races are scheduled for PHRF and One-Design divisions, which include Schock 35 and Viper 640 racers vying for their Pacific Coast Championship titles, and Beneteau 36.7 sailors racking up scores for their High Point Series. Plus, the Catalina 37 fleet will be racing for the National Championship title and - NEWSFLASH - there were still boats available for charter, at press time. Check online at www.lbrw.org for details.

For Random Leg classes three races are slated, with a variety of scenic course configurations and lengths around marks and landmarks in San Pedro Bay.

Trophies will be presented daily for the above categories as well as overall honors. And there are several special awards, offering more ways to win:

Satariano Boat of the Week: One-design class winner in the division with the closest, most competitive racing.
PHRF Boat of the Week: PHRF class winner in the division with the closest, most competitive racing.
Kent Golison Family Trophy: Highest placing boat sailed by at least three members of an immediate family.
Travel Trophy: Boat owner traveling the furthest from his/her hometown.
Yacht Club Challenge: Based on the combined score of three teams - designated prior to racing.

But everyone's a winner at USLBRW! Race, dance, reconnect with long-lost pre-pandemic pals, and make new friends. Festivities - included in entry fees - will start with music and dancing at ABYC Friday night. LBYC will host Saturday's Mt. Gay Rum Party, with more music and dancing, and the Sunday poolside prize-giving. All parties offer food, drinks and cash bar.

Enter at www.lbrw.org by June 1 to avoid the late entry fee. Enter by June 21: or sit on the sidelines and cry. You won't want to be miss the fun and excitement of the 2022 Ullman Sails Long Beach Race Week!
