Mothering Sunday was to blame for the reduced numbers for Round 10 of the Winter Series. Five intrepid sailors took to the water with all in favour for B rigs.

Wind direction from the NE utilised a course with a reaching start in front of the café to provide some shelter from the NE breeze and the cold air under the fog. Elsewhere and not far away the sun had punched through. A triangle and sausage providing a long beat towards the area where the sailors were standing.

Jamie Blair suffered a full electric failure and missed the first race. Tim Townsend (45) started as he meant to go on with a first and with quite a gap to the rest of the fleet. Brian Lev'y (958) recorded his PB of a second.

With a full fleet for the rest of the day - Jamie seized the moment to clock up a first. The remaining races were mostly a contest between Jamie and Tim swapping first places almost with every race. Jamie fell foul of pressing the trigger too early in race 7 and whist catching up suffered a head to wind moment; luckily discards left this out of the sums. Brian and Andrew Nicholls (613) had their own challenge but with Brian leading at the end of the mornings racing. Whilst two legs were somewhat processional the Rule observance required at the leeward mark was extremely difficult some 100m away. All part of the fun of racing!

Tim won the day by one point to Jamie and the Brian/Andrew racing was only split by 2 points.

We look forward to the next round on Sunday 10th April.

Big waves and gusty winds up to 35 knots As forecast, we would see winds from the SSW and starting at 15 knots. The direction SSW and with the gusts it felt more like 18-20kts. No question on rig size - the smallest D rig. Posted on 24 Feb

More light and shifty winds at Barton's Point Coastal Park For today's racing the wind was very much in the lower numbers. The forecast was for 5 knots and direction SE. No question on rig size - the biggest A rig. Another light wind meeting. Numbers were down with folk away and recovering from the lurgy. Posted on 5 Feb

With a race within a race for the Johnson family The wind was blowing from the clubhouse direction for the ten RC Laser entries. It looked to be a stock 'B' rig all-dayer, but with the light patch at the entry point, a bit of extra sail cloth helps you get through the lulls. Posted on 6 Oct 2024
