Mothering Sunday was to blame for the reduced numbers for Round 10 of the Winter Series. Five intrepid sailors took to the water with all in favour for B rigs.

Wind direction from the NE utilised a course with a reaching start in front of the café to provide some shelter from the NE breeze and the cold air under the fog. Elsewhere and not far away the sun had punched through. A triangle and sausage providing a long beat towards the area where the sailors were standing.

Jamie Blair suffered a full electric failure and missed the first race. Tim Townsend (45) started as he meant to go on with a first and with quite a gap to the rest of the fleet. Brian Lev'y (958) recorded his PB of a second.

With a full fleet for the rest of the day - Jamie seized the moment to clock up a first. The remaining races were mostly a contest between Jamie and Tim swapping first places almost with every race. Jamie fell foul of pressing the trigger too early in race 7 and whist catching up suffered a head to wind moment; luckily discards left this out of the sums. Brian and Andrew Nicholls (613) had their own challenge but with Brian leading at the end of the mornings racing. Whilst two legs were somewhat processional the Rule observance required at the leeward mark was extremely difficult some 100m away. All part of the fun of racing!

Tim won the day by one point to Jamie and the Brian/Andrew racing was only split by 2 points.

We look forward to the next round on Sunday 10th April.

Sunshine and sunglasses on a day that was to be cold and no wind We were blessed with sun but before racing started there was no wind. The course was set to what should have been a WNW direction. Waves make tacking very difficult at times Christmas done and New Year too so a welcome break out to resume where we left off in 2022. The prospect of a damp outing was scotched by a window in the weather with a dry spell and 11 races completed. Posted on 10 Jan

Confusion at the start as the very light breeze couldn't decide on a direction Confusion set in at the beginning as the very initial light breeze couldn't decide to flow along the lake from any of the directions. The weather man said it would come from the log cabin, but it was starting to favour the clubhouse. Posted on 9 Jan

Despite snow, ice and a cold wind there were still 7 skippers ready to race No wind, fog and no racing last week was changed to snow, ice and a cold wind. Despite all this seven ventured out for the mornings racing. The SE wind 8 - 12 knots allowed all to stand right by the café making the dash for coffee a short one. Posted on 19 Dec 2022

Talking about zombies distracts your competitors With a lousy forecast, high chance of rain 10 -15 knots of wind from the South East and Thunder with Lightning around lunchtime, it was hardly surprising that Elisabeth had only 2 'Yes' replies from a possible 30 RC Laser Skippers that she had emailed. Ideal opportunity for outsiders or guests to have a trial lesson or a race Over the last five years or so, we've had a couple of these one-dayers. Normally with intense league racing, we get no let up to let our hair down and relax a little. This being the ideal opportunity for outsiders or guests to have a trial lesson. Posted on 25 Oct 2022

7 skippers contest the Welsh Cup With a moderate westerly, it's always great and it was also to remain dry for the seven skippers that turned up for the first in the Autumn series at Fleetwood.
