Fireball Gul Golden Dolphin and Silver Scorpion Open Events to be held at Staunton Harold Sailing Cl

Two full days of top flight racing are in store for Fireball and Scorpion sailors at the upcoming Fireball Gul Golden Dolphin and Silver Scorpion events at Staunton Harold Sailing Club.

Fireball Gul Golden Dolphin

Gul is again providing generous prize sponsorship for the series - a great opportunity to finish 2022 being better dressed than you started it!

  • Please sign in, in advance online. Note that payment is on the day - but signing in, in advance allows us the opportunity to set the day up in advance
  • Registration from 9 am on Saturday
  • The warning signal for the first race on Saturday will not be before 11:55 on Saturday and 10:00 Sunday
  • There will be up to 12 sprint races, in the format of 7 on Saturday and 5 on Sunday, weather conditions depending
  • No warning signal will be made after 15:00 on Sunday
  • Entry fee £30
Please note that because this is a Golden Dolphin event, competitors need to be members of the UKFA to qualify for the Gul prizes. See the Membership Requirements for National and International Championships and Golden Dolphin events section on the Fireball website for membership requirements. Please do this in advance of coming to the event to avoid disappointment at the prize-giving!

And for competitors to eligible to win the series at they must compete in three of the Gul Golden Dolphin events please find details of full eligibility and dates / locations here for further races in the series.

Silver Scorpion

With 75 boats already signed up for the Scorpion Nationals at Looe SC in July, we're looking forward to seeing travelling Scorpion sailors join us to get the season under way and start their Silver Scorpion Series off with a winning streak!

  • Sailors need to register and pay in advance via the National Scorpion Class Association website.
  • Please also sign in, in advance via the Staunton Harold Sailing Club website so that we can set the day up in advance for results.
  • The warning signal for the first race on Saturday will not be before 11:55 on Saturday and 10:00 Sunday
  • There will be up to 12 sprint races, in the format of 7 on Saturday and 5 on Sunday, weather conditions depending
  • No warning signal will be made after 15:00 on Sunday
  • Entry fee £30

Where to stay / local information

Places to stay can be found here. For your supporters, there are lovely walks around the sailing club, the National Trust's Calke Abbey close by is a great place to visit, and Melbourne Village just a five minute drive away is an attractive Georgian market town with a range of shops, pubs and restaurants.
