An event like no other! Entries are now open for the 2022 International WASZP Games, an event that will see the largest congregation of WASZPs in the class' 5-year history.

An event three years in the making since we last met at the International WASZP Games in Perth 2019. The appetite for international competition has never been greater, with strong interest from Australia, North America, Hawaii, Hong Kong and NZ to complement the sizeable European contingent. 200+ boats are certainly on the cards!

Our Class Manager Martin Evans has been working tirelessly to ensure the International Games will be the jewel in the crown of an action-packed 2022 event circuit. True to our origins, there will be something for everyone at an International WASZP Games, from beginner foilers looking to learn their craft to top-level international racers vying for the title and those who want the ultimate sailing holiday with family and friends. For sure, the WASZP culture will be on show in more ways than one!

For those wanting to spend an extended stay in Malcesine (host club), there is an incredible opportunity to do 3x events in one:

  • FOILING WEEK - 30th June - 3rd July
  • PRE-GAMES & WASZP_X International Games - 9-10th July
  • INTERNATIONAL WASZP GAMES - 11 - 16th July
The inclusion of the WASZP_X for the first time brings an opportunity for 11-14yr olds to attend their first International Foiling Competition over the 9-10th of July and then stay on if they wish to compete in the open International WASZP Games. This also presents excellent coaching opportunities for existing WASZP Sailors looking to inspire the next generation.

The International Games schedule is as follows:

9th - 10th - Pre-Games - Measurement & Registration
11th - Rest Day - Measurement& Registration
12th - International WASZP SLALOM
13-16th INTERNATIONAL WASZP GAMES Championship Racing

There will be an opening ceremony in the town centre, including a pre-event party and post-race socials and pasta after racing each day. Then we are hosting the prize-giving and large WASZP Party to finish the event!

We can't wait to see you!
