ELIGHT 40 © Nova Luxe Yachts

New to the lineup for 2022 is the ELIGHT 40. Which to put bluntly, is the best full electric option on the market. It is also the only 'full electric', 'full solar', 'zero emission' power catamaran that Nova Luxe sells. Our sailing yachts can be purchased without a generator and our ELIGHT 70 can be purchased with a hydrogen generator instead of diesel. Otherwise, we sell hybrids which can be operated as zero emission for the majority of time but yes ultimately, they have a diesel range extender.

This is because Nova Luxe only sells practical electric yachts that exceed the performance characteristics of combustion powered yachts. We size our propulsion battery bank to operate for at least 4 hours at cruise speed on battery power alone. This covers the majority of activities and the solar array adds another 20% of battery capacity on sunny days (example of: 80kw battery, 5kw solar array). The solar array and battery pack are also sized to cover the entire hotel load for a 24-hour period (boat is not in motion, running electronics like AC, water maker, lights, etc.). Great, you can sit on the hook and use all the power you want or you can cruise around for a day, very nice. However, some customers may want to use their million-dollar yacht for more than 1 day. We foresaw this need and always include generators on the ELIGHT44s and ELIGHT50s Serial hybrid models. (Also for safety and to keep our slogan honest, "Always have power when you need it!")

What makes the ELIGHT 40 different? She weighs 13k lbs. in contrast to the ELIGHT 44 (with flybridge) at 22k lbs. This puts her in a weight class that requires very little power to push. On solar generated power, she can do six knots per hour! The battery capacity can easily surpass 12 hours of continuous use at cruise speed. For these reasons and because we designed her to have the most efficient complete electric system on the market (mentioned in earlier newsletter, power movement from 48v solar array->48v batteries->48v motors is almost lossless) we are comfortable offering this power catamaran without a generator.

Ideal for day charters, we are offering a bulk ELIGHT 40 discount for orders exceeding 3 units. Owners' version available and this yacht could be used to explore the world if you are comfortable in smaller accommodations.
