Having been based in Plymouth since our inception in 1997 we have always been committed to delivering our technical knowledge and engineering experience to boat owners in the South West. Our attention to detail and reputation for top customer service has seen the Allspars brand go from strength to strength as our customer base grow to all parts of the world. We eventually opened our second workshop at Swanwick marina on the Hamble in 2014, which now employs six team members.

This growth allowed us to cover the cruising areas between our two workshops very well, so when the opportunity arouse for us to consider opening our 3rd workshop in Falmouth to help us cover a greater area of the South West without the fear of spreading ourselves too thin, with the right team members, we jumped at the chance.

Falmouth is steeped in Maritime history and has a vibrant leisure marine industry in and around its harbour, so we are proud to join the industry ranks and offer the Allspars Masts and Rigging service to the wider sailing community in Cornwall.

The Falmouth branch is run by Cornwall's own Matt Pullen, who is not only an experienced rigger but sailor too. Let's hear from the man in charge of our Falmouth branch.

"I first got involved in the marine industry whilst still at school working in the family business. After leaving school my interests were definitely in sailing and therefore rigging was the perfect job for me.

"I was very lucky in serving my apprenticeship with a local rigging guru who I worked with for over 10 years. He taught me there were no shortcuts to be had with yacht rigging and that every job, no matter how big or small, relied on attention to detail and always using the correct product for the individual needs of the boats.

"My views on quality of work and customer service fall perfectly in line with the outstanding reputation of Allspars and I am incredibly excited to be part of the Allspars family. The support along with the impressive production and fabrication facilities of the Plymouth HQ will be vital in providing a range of work that belies the size of our current workshop.

"The availability of stock and spares from within the group, will allow us to sort rigging problems in a timely fashion, rather than having to wait for manufacturers to deliver from around the world with all the delays that can often mean.

"Outside of work I have sailed for pleasure, commercially and professionally and this has given me a wide knowledge of all types of vessels as well as their requirements.

"I have successfully competed at both National and International level, in many different classes of boat, but one of my proudest achievements was winning the National, European and World Championship titles in the Dart 18 class all in the same season, with my wife Debs crewing for me."

In the coming months there will be more updates regarding Allspars Falmouth so keep your eyes peeled.
