Leading French offshore sailor Louis Burton has been named as the newest Musto ambassador ahead of the Transat Jacques Vabre 2021 starting in just three days time from Le Havre, France. Burton will be racing Bureau Vallée in the 23-strong IMOCA class, alongside co-skipper Davy Beaudart.
Burton joins Musto's pantheon of elite sailors taking part in the race, including Sam Goodchild and Erwan Le Roux in the Ocean Fifty class, Armel Le Cléac'h in the Ultim Class and Sam Davies, Jérémie Beyou and the 11th Hour Racing Team duos of Charlie Enright and Pascal Bidégorry, and Simon Fisher and Justine Mettreaux in the IMOCA class. The sailors will be kitted out in gear from Musto's HPX high-performance, offshore range, that will provide the skippers with the protection they need.
"Ever since I started sailing, I have dreamed of wearing Musto - it's a guarantee of high performance," said Burton. "It is a great privilege for me to be a brand ambassador - Musto has offered the best of the best for decades in terms of quality of clothing and technical innovation. They're always finding ways to make their garments lighter, more waterproof, and easier to move around in as you have to have freedom of movement when running around using all your energy on our IMOCA. Knowing that we will not be cold or wet or uncomfortable during these intense efforts enables us to perform at our peak. Joining Team Musto is a source of great pride for the entire Bureau Vallée Team."
Following an outstanding third place in the last Vendée Globe, Burton's offshore career has been going from strength to strength. He finished fourth overall in the recent Défi Azimut 48 hour race and is considered one of the favourites to win the Transat Jacques Vabre in the IMOCA class, after six previous participations.
Nick Houchin, Musto's Head of Marketing, commented: "Louis is a remarkable talent and we are excited to welcome him to Team Musto. Musto kit performs the way it does because of input from our ambassadors; our clothes are tested in some of the most hostile environments on Earth by high-performance athletes. When you buy a Musto garment, you're buying years of expertise from the best sailors in the world. Louis' experience in offshore racing will be an incredibly valuable asset to our brand and we wish him and all our other ambassadors racing in the Transat Jacques Vabre a great race."
In the build-up to the start of the 15th edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre, Musto are sharing their 'Perfect Partnerships' campaign with race fans. The campaign looks at the relationship between the co-skipper: how well do they really know each other; how will they tackle the Transat Jacques Vabre together; how do they build trust and what do they fear most?
As part of Musto's autumn/winter 'Fear Less, Do More" campaign, the sailors offer an insight into their personal relationships - will they pass the Musto Perfect Partnership test? The duos who took part in this campaign include Samantha Davies and Nicolas Lunven (Initiatives Coeur), Jérémie Beyou and Christopher Pratt (Charal), Charlie Enright and Pascal Bidegorry (11th Hour Racing Team Malama), and Simon Fisher and Justine Mettreaux (11th Hour Racing Team Alaka'i).
